Kazakh Woman in Xingiang, China

Resisting collectivization in the mid-1930s, many Kazakhs pressed into Xingiang
Autonomous Region in China where they still maintain their nomadic life
style. This woman in the Tien Shan Mountain summer pasture displays a neighbor's
felt carpet and other bedding stacked against the walls of the yurt. The
blankets are used at night, folded, and placed in stacks during the daytime.
