The KSEN staff
would like to thank REI for being one of our sponsors during the 1999
expedition to Mongolia. They graciously donated tents, hiking boots,
jackets, pants, tents, sleeping bags, backpacks and sleeping mats to
the KSEN kids. These items were definitely put to the test in the capricious
weather of the Altai Mountains where our camp was located. We experienced
hail, snow, rain, sun, and wind. You name it, we had it. Everything
REI donated held up marvelously. The clothes kept the elements out,
but were so comfortable that the kids even slept in them. The REI boots
never seemed to need to be broken in. The kids loved the look of the
clothes, which, for teenagers is a big deal.
David Jayo and Lora
Flewelling were our contacts with REI. They were terrific to work with
and they were enthused about the KSEN expedition. Since it is my goal
to provide these expeditions for any child that wants to take part,
it certainly helps when an organization like REI donates something,
like gear, that would be very costly for students to purchase on their
own. The gear that is donated becomes the property of KSEN and is used
by other children the following year.
THANK YOU REI FOR
NOT ONLY DONATING FANTASTIC GEAR, BUT FOR HELPING TO POSITIVELY ENHANCE
THE LIVES OF KIDS.
