CAMP LIFE
The camp is situated
to the north of Rostov na-Donu, not far from the small city Belaya
Kalitva. The nearest village and the river are 2-3 km distance from
the camp. We will have a cold shower in the camp but we will go to
the river by bus every day where we can swim.
The camp itself
is situated in a small grove of trees surrounded by fields, one of
which is covered with about 30 burrial mounds. Volunteers will excavated
one of the smaller kurgans so that it can be completed within two
weeks.
The temperature
in July and in the beginning of August is usually 25-35 C in the daytime.
However, as the climate is continental, the nights can be chilly enough
for a sweat shirt. It rarely rains during the summer in the steppes,
although this depends on the year.
