Tax deductible donation of $1250 per session
for students [evidence of enrollment required]

$1400 for non-students.

Includes 1-2 nights lodging in Ulaanbaatar
at beginning and end of session, meals in the field, and transport
to and from site using local buses. Travel to Mongolia and insurance
not included. Participants must bring their own camp gear and
supplies.

approximately 50 km north of the city of Mandalgov (

PROJECT
CHRONOLOGICAL RANGE OF SITES

Terminal Bronze Age and Early Iron Age (ca.
1200-300 BC) and the Xiongnu period (ca. 300 BC Ð AD 200).
PROJECT DATES:Two Sessions

June 15 to July 6, 2007

July 17 to Aug 7, 2007

These sessions are recommended as we expect
the full research staff to be in the field during these
dates. Session schedules and duration may be negotiable
in order to accommodate the needs of volunteers.

There is a limited number of participant
positions open for the 2007 field season.

REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum age 19
-
No experience required.
-
Training will be provided by both American
and Mongolian archaeologists.

It is important that Participants are able
to withstand challenging field conditions, a moderate workload
(especially hiking), living in tents under semi-desert conditions,
and a meat oriented diet.
-
Should also have a good sense of humor and
be able to cope with a country where Murphy's Law reigns supreme.
-
It needs to be emphasized that this project
is in a fairly remote part of Mongolia and participants will
be living in very simple conditions.
