to Russia, but Russia imports meat from Europe. We recommend that in

ARRIVAL IN ROSTOV-NA DONU
Well meet every participant
in the airport or at the railway station. If a participant arrives before
the beginning of the session, he/she will be met and escorted to the
hotel. The participant will be responsible for personal expenses (hotel,
food, and transportation) during this time. If participants arrive at
the beginning of the session, all expenses will be covered.
LATE ARRIVAL
If a participant arrives after the beginning of
the session, he/she will have problems with registration (see below)
and transportation to the site. Thus, we recommend that everyone
arrive in Rostov-on-Don not later than on the first day of planned
session (from from 0 oclock until mid-day). You must advise
us of the time of arrival and your means of travel (air/train).
It is best to send this info via email as soon as possible to jkimball@csen.org.
If a participant arrives late in Rostov-on-Don, telephone
516707 (another number may be provided later). These people will order
a taxi and give the driver instructions on how to get to Chastiye Kurgans.
The participant will be responsible for taxi fare.

WHAT TO BRING
It may be very hot and sunny in the daytime. The
burial mounds are located in an open field, so we recommend hats
and shirts with long sleeves for working. It is rather dusty (and
after rain muddy) at the site. We recommend closed shoes
as well as sandals. Nights can be quite cool so bring a sweater,
sweatshirts and a jacket. The camp, has no electricity so you will
need a flashlight. There is a cold shower in the camp, and well
go to the bathhouse once a week, but we shall also go to the river
by bus every day (not obligatory), so bring a swimsuit. Bring a
sleeping and an air mattress as cots are not provided but the floor
is covered. There will be two people in a tent. The tents are rated
for three people, so they are spacious enough.
Tableware is provided. We shall have three meals
a day besides a small snack in the field. Its not necessary
to take food, but if you want to buy something edible, there is
a shop in the village that well pass through every day every
day on the way to the river to swim. (The ice cream is excellent)
There is no laundry but well have some basins and laundry-powder
in the camp, but there will be no hot water. We can find some woman
in the village who may do laundry but as there are not good washing
machines in the village, we cannot guarantee the results.
